Following the unhinged love life of stalker/murderer Joe Goldberg, the show finished on a clinghanger at the end of season two.
When will You season three be released?
Netflix has yet to reveal a release date for You season three.
A recent fake announcement that circulated online claimed that the show would return on 9 April 2021, however, this is not true.
The show was renewed by Netflix on 14 January, and the streaming giant revealed it would premiere in 2021.
However, as the Covid-19 pandemic shut down TV and film productions globally, filming for You season three was delayed.
Showrunner Sera Gamble recently shared an update on filming, posting an Instagram photo of the script for episode 10, with the caption, “Getting closer.”
Who’s in the cast?
Both Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti are confirmed to return as Joe Goldberg and Love Quinn in You season three.
Several characters from season two could possibly reprise their roles, including Jenna Ortega as teen Ellie Alves. Her character went on the run after being instigated by Joe. Saffron Burrows and Michael Reilly Burke could also make a return as Love Quinn’s parents.
Joe’s mother, Sandy, played by Magda Apanowicz, could appear in some form in season three. Her character appeared in flashbacks during season two.
Speaking about bringing back characters in You season three, co-creator Sera Gamble told The Hollywood Reporter, “I don't see why not. Part of the fun of Joe is that he is not very good at doing bad things. He doesn't plan them well. He doesn't execute them perfectly like a mastermind.
“And so there is always the worry that things from his past are going to catch up with him. What's great about that is it creates a landscape for the show where you do get to revisit your favorite characters moving forward.”
She added, “One of my favorite things to do is bring back a dead person to haunt you. So the door is wide open for everybody's favorite characters.”
What will the plot be?
You season three will follow the shocking events of the season two finale..
Season two ended with Love Quinn confessing to murdering Delilah and Candace, and revealing to Joe that she was pregnant with his baby.
The couple moved to the suburbs to have and raise their baby, but viewers got a final revelation that Joe’s obsessive fixations had not gone away.
At the end of the series, viewers saw that he had turned his attention towards their new neighbour. In a teaser for the third season, Joe is seen staring at his neighbour from behind the fence saying to himself : “This is just the beginning. Because this is where I had to be exactly where I had to be to meet You."
Sera Gamble explained that the final scene shows “Joe is still Joe in a way that's not going to be great for Joe…. It seems clear that he's falling into some version of that same pattern. I can't say that we know exactly what a season three would be, but I can say things won't go well for Joe.”
Is there a trailer?
There is no official trailer for the upcoming season.
However, the show’s official Twitter channel shared a seven-second clip revealing that YOU Season three is coming, containing the text: “New Year, New You.”
