War veteran shares stories of his 50 flying missions on the site where WWII planes were built

103 year old, Flt Lt Colin Bell DFC BEM became the oldest recipient of an award in this year’s King’s New Year’s Honours List. Colin had an audience of over 100 people mesmerised by stories of his incredible life, from his 50 missions over Germany to setting a new abseiling world record last year, at this very special event.
The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster, said "Those lucky enough to get tickets were astonished to hear Colin's remarkable WWII tale, after tale, with the level of detail most of us might remember for about a week. He flew the Mosquito over 80 years ago! What's more, he had his enthralled audience in constant laughter at his astonishing self-depreciation and outstanding sense of humour. I am so grateful to the wonderful team at One YMCA for hosting the event and to war hero Colin for his passion and determination to raise awareness and funds for vital causes."
