Brooklyn Beckham feud: Neighbours of the Beckhams are divided in their sympathies for family

Neighbours of the Beckhams have been reacting to the fall-out between Brooklyn and his parents - and were divided on whether his actions were 'spoilt or brave'.

People living close to David and Victoria were talking after the family feud finally exploded into the spotlight with a post on Instagram by their son on Monday night.

The series of claims included accusations from Brooklyn that Victoria hijacked the first dance at his wedding to Nicola Peltz and they had tried to detail the ceremony.

But some of those living near the Beckhams home in Great Tew near Chipping Norton urged them to reconcile and to stop airing their dispute in public.

Laura Heeks, 22, who works in events in Chipping Norton said: “I’ve met Romeo and David Beckham at a local car garage. It was very nice and brief encounter. My mum was more excited than me."

About Brooklyn’s remarks she said” There’s probably an element of true there. It reminds me of Megan and Harry. He can’t make that up and then go public with it. I don’t like the fact that he has ruined his whole family though. It’s a very brave thing to do. His family are so well known.”

One resident and shopkeeper in nearby Chipping Sodbury said the Beckhams had been customers and described them both as “nice people”.

He added: “There will be regret from every side of the family. It’s a bit of a shame if they’re going to lose touch because I thought they were quite close knit. I’m sure it’s quite upsetting for them. He’s put stuff out there now. I don’t think it was very good.

“We just need to let people live and let live. Romeo and David Beckham have been here. They are nice people and they just need to get on and do their thing. It’s a bit of a shame. We make a big deal about it but they are famous people. It’s not good having bad press.

“I think they are quite impressive and he [David] deserved his knighthood and they’ve worked hard and they’ve done good things. But I don’t know what’s true and what’s not. It’s tricky when you’re in the public eye. It’s difficult because as soon as you say something it’s out there."

The celebrity couple have lived at their Cotswolds mansion near Chipping Norton since 2016, buying the pad for £6,150,000.

Their countryside estate is close to Soho Farmhouse, an exclusive celebrity club which boasts visitors such as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Tom Cruise.

Another local resident in Chipping Norton added: “I feel really strongly about it. So strongly I had to comment on the Facebook page. I think it’s disgusting when you fall out with your parents. When you’re a grown up you only get one mum and dad. I think it’s so silly to be upset about this. Somewhere down the line you can’t fall out with your parents for life. Having just lost my mum.  You just don’t get enough time with them.

“We don't need to know about this. Keep your personal stuff for yourself. If you did that you open yourself up. If you keep yourself private like many famous people do then people go through life without any of this s***. “

The Beckhams' own home is nestled in two acres of land with the barn conversion having had extensive renovations.

These include a glasshouse, a large pond, an underground wine cellar and an Astroturf football pitch.

The 14,270 sq ft property, which had been a working farm at the site since 1820, includes nine bedrooms, four bathrooms, a movie theatre and even a gym.

Outside, the garden has a 12.5 metre by 7.5 metre pool built in one courtyard of the E-shaped house, plus a timber pergola-covered seating area in the other.

Another local in Chipping Norton said: “I don’t like Victoria I can imagine she’s been interfering quite a lot. There’s something about her I don’t like it. I knew Victoria would be quite controlling. I don’t blame him.”

A tourist in Chipping Norton took the side of David and Victoria and said: “He’s a spoilt little child. What exactly does he do? Where does the money come from? From his parents! When he’s got a career as successful as his parents we will maybe listen to him.”
