Delroy Lindo receives his first Oscar nomination for his role in Sinners, how old is he, is he married?

Vampire thriller Sinners has received a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, including a Best Actor nomination for Michael B. Jordan, Best Picture, Best Director and original screenplay for Ryan Coogler and Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku.

British actor Delroy Lindo has received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, he plays Delta Slim in Sinners. In an interview with Deadline, “I recognized from the very beginning that this was a particular singular piece of material from the standpoint that it was, I thought — I still do think — a very contemporary story.

“I was really intrigued by the fact that even though it was set in 1932, it resonated so much contemporaneously. I mean, acutely. Acutely. And so, the juxtaposition of the historical, and then just the dynamism of the narrative itself, I thought was very, very singular.”

Delroy Lindo also discussed his new film and said: “And I’m also working on a film that I’m going to direct, co-produce and act in. It’s set in Jamaica, in a particular community in Jamaica, and it has to do with the power, and the spirituality, and the healing power of community. That’s a film that I’m very, very committed to.”

Fans have taken to Delroy Lindo’s Instagram and posted congratulatory messages on his Oscar nomination. One fan wrote: “CONGRATULATIONS ON THE ACADEMY AWARDS NOM!!!LONG OVERDUE, SIR!!!” Another said: “Congratulations King 👑 on your OSCAR NOMINATION ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️ 🙏🏽✨🎉🎉🎉.”

Delroy Lindo, who is 73-years old, is married to Nashormeh, the couple wed in 1990 and share a son Damiri, who was born in 2001. Delroy Lindo was previously married to Kathi Coaston. Delroy Lindo has previously spoken about not receiving an Oscar nomination for the Spike Lee directed 2020 movie Da 5 Bloods.

He told Entertainment Weekly that “I try not to buy into that because, frankly, if Da 5 Bloods experience taught me anything, it's that no Academy Award nomination, no BAFTA nomination, no SAG nomination…There was another one. There were four of 'em that completely iced both the film and me…I had my own thoughts about what that was about…My point is, if so much of the press were saying, 'This guy's going to get nominated,' and it didn't happen, there's probably a reason for that."
