This Morning star Michelle Elman has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery - her 19th procedure in total

A star of ITV’s This Morning has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery - her 19th procedure overall.

Relationship expert Michelle Elman took to her Instagram Stories to reveal that she had started the Chinese NewYear in hospital and had to have an emergency operation.

It was only a few months ago that the TV star, life coach and author, last had to have surgery.

She shared a series of photos of her in a hospital gown and explained what happened to her in captions written over the top: "Ended up needing emergency surgery. So much for the Chinese New Year being a fresh start. Had surgery on first day of the year AND Chinese new year," she began.

32-year-old Ellman did not give any more details about what procedure she has had or why she needed it.

In the second photo, she showed the scar the surgery had left her with. She wrote: "Got two scars on my neck and collarbone." In another upload to Instagram Stories, Ellman wrote that "19 surgeries is enough for a lifetime", and also shared a [photo of a bracelet made by her "gorgeous nephew", which read: "Get Better."

Over the top of her final photo, the TV star shared that she is "currently being monitored one-on-one with a nurse sat in my room at all times".

It was only last month, that the TV personality explained more about her previous 18 surgeries. In a social media post, she said: "Now had a total of 18 surgeries, three brain surgeries and an abdominal one too.

"Hydrocephalus is the thing that is responsible for the majority of my surgeries, and I wish it would get more attention because it needs the awareness. I still don’t think my valve is on the right setting and that’s going to take months to figure out, but most of the day I’m no longer in pain and that’s a welcome break from the last 3 months."

Hydrocephalus is a build-up of fluid in the brain and that excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can damage it, according to the NHS. If left untreated, hydrocephalus can be fatal. Symptoms are wide ranging, but can include headache, being sick, blurred vision and difficulty walking

In November 2025, Michelle shared with her 282,000 fans on Instagram that she needed to have brain surgery because a cyst had been found. She further shared that a metal magnet inplanted in her brain, which controls the flow of the fluid, needed to be replaced.
