Amanda Seyfried says she is ‘100 percent in’ for cameo role in upcoming film version of Mean Girls Musical

Amanda Seyfried has excited Mean Girls fans saying she would like to play a cameo part in the new film adaptation of the musical. Speaking to ET on the red carpet at Sunday’s (26 February) SAG Awards the actress, 37, said: “All four of us are (up for doing a cameo) 100 percent into it, yeah”.
When asked if she would reprise her role as Karen Smith she explained that the former lead stars could play the mothers of their characters. “That's what I was thinking, but listen, I have not even seen the script."

Hide AdThe actress recently revealed that she originally auditioned for the main character Regina George and Blake Lively was meant to be Karen. Amanda told Vanity Fair: “I’d flown out to L.A. for the first time with my mother. It was very exciting, I met Lacey Chabert for the first time, and Lindsay Lohan was in the room, and Blake Lively was playing Karen, and then I was Regina.”
In the 2004 cult film Lindsay Lohan starred as new girl Cady who befriends the most popular girl group in school ‘the plastics’. Rachel McAdams played group leader Regina George, Lacey Chabert as Gretchen Wieners and Amanda played the part of Karen.
The film adaptation of the musical will see Reneé Rapp return as Queen Bee, Regina George, after her stand out performance in the Broadway show. The actress shared her excitement over the film version saying: "It's going to be a very exciting, authentic take on what Mean Girls is and what Mean Girls means to us.”
Tina Fey who wrote the original screenplay and the musical will return for the film adaptation but it hasn't been confirmed whether she will reprise her role as maths teacher Ms Norbury.
The iconic film produced some much loved quotes such as “that’s so fetch”, “You can’t sit with us”, “On Wednesdays we wear pink” and “it’s October third” which is now the official Mean Girls Day.
