As an actress, Amber Heard is used to taking on different roles and over the past year, she has been living a completely different life to that of the one in Hollywood.

On 11 April 2022, Amber Heard entered a Virginia court to take on her ex-husband Johnny Depp in a case that ruled on allegations of defamation between the formerly married couple.

After six weeks of the televised trial, the court ruled in favour of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor leaving Amber to initially pay Depp $10.35 million in damages and Depp to pay Amber $2 million; however following appeals, the couple reached a settlement whereby Amber would pay her former husband $1 million.

Now, a year later, as Johnny is about to make his comeback to film at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, PeopleWorld looks at what Amber Heard has been up to:

Shortly after the trial’s conclusion, Amber put her Californian house up for sale and moved to Mallorca, Spain as she ‘couldn’t wait to leave the US with her daughter,’ reported People.

For several months, Amber lived under the radar in the village of Costitx with her two-year-old daughter Oonaugh Paige and her girlfriend Bianca Butti, only being spotted on several occasions in the local playground.

A source added to People: “[Amber] has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country."

While Amber was living in Spain, her legal team announced in December 2022 that she had appealed the court’s decision to side with Depp in the US-based defamation lawsuit urging them to reconsider their decision on how it could have a ‘disastrous impact’ on domestic abuse victims coming forward.

However, entering the New Year, Amber reportedly has put it all behind her and has developed a newfound energy to get back into the industry and focus on what she loves.

According to Amber’s IMDB page, audiences can expect to see her in Aquaman 2 as Mera as well as a thriller called In The Fire.
