Onwards and upwards, or should I say on-awards and up-awards, as the awards season is in full flow following the Golden Globes opener earlier this week.

While all eyes are set on the Oscars, there are other events taking place before including the Critics Choice, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTAs, which may indicate what the Academy is thinking for the grand finale.

Next up on the Hollywood elite’s list is the Critics Choice which takes place in Los Angeles and airs on the 15 January.

But the real question remains, who does the Critics Choice have their eyes on? PeopleWorld takes a closer look:

Who are the favourites to win?

Awards are available for both television and film at the Critics Choice Awards 2023, as they are for all the big ceremonies, so stars from the small and silver screen all have their fingers crossed.

Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh all lead the race for the leading movie role categories, while their respective movies all show promise including The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis and Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Although Top Gun: Maverick did not perform well at the Golden Globes, the Tom Cruise action sequel is expected to come on top for cinematography, editing and song.

Other notable names which have been suggested as front runners are Zendaya for her work in Euphoria, Steven Spielberg for The Fablemans, White Lotus' Jennifer Coolidge and Banshee's Ke Huy Quan, who also won their Golden Globes.

Who is the host and how can I watch?

Please welcome to the stage, your MC for the evening…Chelsea Handler, American comedienne and television presenter, known for Chelsea Lately and Chelsea Does.

Chelsea’s hosting duties come after Taye Diggs took command for four years in a row at the Los Angeles-based Fairmount Century Plaza.

Joining Chelsea Handler on the stage to present awards are Michelle Pfeiffer, Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller to name a few.

As the main broadcast is taking place on the CW, it means UK viewers are unable to watch the show unless they have a VPN in place.

But you can follow the latest news in the awards night on PeopleWorld.
