Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is finally discussing the return that surprised DC fans across the globe, saying he ‘fought hard’ to get Henry Cavill to return as Superman. Johnson spoke about the iconic return of the character in 'Black Adam' in a video posted to Twitter stating that Warner Brothers were not initially that interested in bringing back Cavill.

If you haven't seen the film, then SPOLIER ALERT!

Cavill made an uncredited appearance in the post credit scene of Black Adam, Johnson’s debut movie in the DC Extended Universe. The move surprised fans everywhere given the fact that Justice League was said to be the last time Cavill would appear as Superman, and the rumour that he is expected to pick up the 007 mantle from Daniel Craig in the next James Bond film.

Johnson added that: "We have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe. And you guys know who I’m talking about? Of course, that is Superman. And that’s Henry Cavill.

"This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer.

"There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do."

In the video, Johnson went on to praise Cavill’s portrayal of the iconic superhero Clark Kent. He said that he is "our generation’s Superman" before adding:  "So that’s why we fought hard to bring Superman back, Henry Cavill.

"And there was no other Superman to bring back, by the way. Henry Cavill is our generation’s Superman."

Johnson also made headlines this week when he took to Instagram and shared a video where he bought all the Snickers bars at a 7-Eleven in Hawaii.

The actor said he wanted to ‘make amends’ after admitting to frequently stealing the bars from the shop decades ago.
