The verdict is in...Gwyneth Paltrow has won her court case against Terry Sanderson for $1 after the latter alleged the Goop founder crashed into him while they were skiing in 2016.

While the judge ruled in Gwyneth's favour on 31 March, the jury is still out on whether people like or dislike the Shakespeare in Love actress after her outspoken time in the spotlight.

PeopleWorld's Natalie Dixon and Benjamin Jackson offer an insight into the split decision surrounding Gwyneth Paltrow:

'I heart Gwyneth Paltrow'

Natalie says: Seeing Gwyneth Paltrow stand up in court and fight for what she believes in and to defend her honour is the exact reason why I believe she is one of the most underrated celebrities in the world. Even after she won her court case she reportedly was able to be the bigger person and wish her accuser well. I doubt any other celebrities would have done the same.

The Hollywood actress turned wellness guru gets a lot of backlash from people but I feel like it’s because they do not appreciate the woman that she is. And sometimes I think her tongue in cheek humour is taken the wrong way.

I think a lot of people forget that Gwyneth was an outstanding actress and featured in some brilliant films. Before she became ‘Pepper Potts,’ Iron Man’s right hand woman, she starred in Great Expectations, Hook, Emma, Sliding Doors, Seven and Shakespeare in Love where she won an Oscar - where she wore the now iconic pink Ralph Lauren dress. Gwyneth even showed she has a funny side when she starred alongside Jack Black in Shallow Hal where she portrays a ‘300 pound woman’.

The reason why I believe that the majority of people dislike her is sadly down to one basic human emotion - Jealousy. Aside from the fact that she has dated some of the biggest heartthrobs in Hollywood including Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt and married Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

A lot of people are obsessed with how she looks - She is a 50-year-old woman, tall, blonde and slim. She works hard at working out and eating healthy and yet it is seen as a negative like she’s rubbing it in peoples faces because she isn’t relatable. Celebrities aren’t relatable; they live a life where they can wake up, eat healthy food prepared by a chef, workout in their home gym and have beauty appointments all day long.

We shouldn’t judge or dislike Gwyneth because of this, we should take a leaf out of her ‘Goop wellness’ book and be inspired by her.

"Paltrow; paltry with her medical knowledge"

While Benjii retorts: Can I preface this by saying I am completely biased; I am still sore that Shakespeare in Love won the Best Oscar over Saving Private Ryan, and I am certainly bitter still that Gwyneth Paltrow picked up the Best Actress award over Cate Blanchett’s performance in Elizabeth. So to be asked why I don’t like Gwyneth Paltrow is going to be a matter of subjectivity at times.

It’s not that I am not sympathetic towards her being in a court case, and I am sure that it wasn’t a pleasant experience being involved in a case where the claimant was shown to have narcissistic tendencies and thought they hit the proverbial jackpot when they clattered into a Hollywood superstar.

But my apathy towards Gwyneth stems from when she decided to turn her hand at creating her own line of lifestyle products by virtue of Goop; because nothing inspires me more to put something on my face from a company that sounds like a brand of Nickelodeon slime. But it’s the new age elements and the absolutely quackery of some of her more notable items that raises my ire.

Who could forget when she advised her clientele that steaming one’s vagina has many health benefits, despite the fact that medical practitioners have stated that it is a very bad idea to mess with the delicate, natural goings on down there? Then there was the jade vaginal eggs, which she extolled the virtues about - again to no real medical evidence of such a thing.

More recently she was singing the praises of rectal ozone therapy; you’re not alone in wondering what that is, and I had to search for myself - the introduction of ozone gas into the rectum. Which, for our American readers, is not FDA approved, is still considered a controversial practice and yet again another form of pseudoscience that, in this sceptics view, is more harmful than Gwyneth really takes accountability for.

But we can be thankful that the level of privilege that comes along with her lifestyle brand makes it ill affordable for those who are in dire need of actual medical attention. Perhaps if she concentrated more on practical sciences for the benefit of humankind, like Dolly Parton and countless others, rather than this new age spirituality meets lifestyle branding that Goop is, my resentment would lighten.

No… I’ll still be bitter about that Oscar year. Sorry Natalie.
