Henry Cavill is back in the race to play James Bond after Warner Bros snubbed him as Superman and he announced he would be leaving Netflix show The Witcher.
Following Daniel Craig’s announcement that ‘No Time To Die’ would be his final appearance as James Bond, there has been endless speculation over his successor.

Hide AdCavil has been a long time favourite for the role, and speculation rose after the actor announced he was stepping down as Geralt in the hit Netflix series The Witcher.
The news surprised fans as Cavil has never shied away from expressing his love for the show and its original source material, and led to many speculating that he was departing due to being cast as 007.
His odds, however, dropped due to his appearance in Black Adam reprising his role as Superman in the DC cinematic universe alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson due to the multi appearance commitment the role would take.
James Gunn has since said that Cavill will not play Superman in his new slate of films for the company and Cavill has now clawed his way back to the top spot after it was announced he would not be returning as Superman.

Hide AdAnother frontrunner for the role is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who entered the favourites last month when William Hill posted his odds at 21 to replace Daniel Craig after he reportedly ‘nailed’ a secret audition for the role. Taylor-Johnson is no stranger to action movies having rose to fame after starring in the 2013 Marvel action comedy Kick-Ass and has proven many times since that he has what it takes to be a leading action man as he starred in the 2022 film, Bullet Train.
However, the pair’s odds have dropped to 2-1. Both have proved themselves capable of an action-heavy role as Cavill has been the star in The Witcher and Man of Steel. Taylor-Johnson has recently starred in the Avengers as well as alongside Brad Pitt, in Bullet Train.
Lee Phelps, a spokesperson for William Hill, said: "I think both would be a great fit for the role, they have shown they are very good in the action genre. However, producers did say that age was important to them and as Taylor-Johnson is 32 and Cavill is 39 could that be the deciding factor if they want a younger Bond this time.”

Hide AdFor a long time, Idris Elba has been the firm favourite to take on the role, however, it’s been reported that he is not interested in the role. The producers of the movie Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said they understood why, saying: “We love Idris. The thing is, it’s going to be a couple of years off. And when we cast Bond it’s a 10-12 year commitment”.
Other stars who are in with a chance of becoming the next 007 include Mad Max actor Tom Hardy (6-1), Bridgerton heartthrob Rege-Jean Page (8-1) and Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden (12-1).
