Non-league football could be welcoming some high profile owners shortly as grime artist Stormzy announces his decision to make a move for his childhood hometown club AFC Croydon, with two Crystal Palace members.

The 'Hide and Seek' rapper has reportedly exchanged contracts with the south London team's existing owners as part of a three-man consortium including Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha and the team's former head of player care Danny Young.

AFC Croydon are currently playing in the ninth-tier of English football, a far cry from Zaha's current place in the Premier League, however the trio will be looking to promote the team next season.

Their vision echoes that of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who were at the helm when Wrexham FC were promoted to League One. The American Actors bought Wrexham football club in 2021 and have appeared at many games to show their support for the Welsh team.

Aston Villa - Tom Hanks

The Oscar winning actor has been to watch the team many times and has shared his love for the team by appearing on the red carpet waving their Villa Scarves. When the team was relegated in 2015 the actor refused to give up hope and sent a message to fans that said: Hang on. Don't give up. Wear scarves. Be proud."

Chelsea – Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell got into football when he bought stakes in MLS side Los Angeles FC in 2016. The actor also has a love for English team Chelsea after being spotted in the crowd on many occasions and was made an ‘honorary club captain’ one season.

Norwich - Hugh Jackman

The Australian actor revealed that he is a huge Norwich fan. After his parents divorced his mum Grace moved back to the UK to live in Norwich. There have been rumours over the years that the actor would buy the football team like ‘frenemy’ Ryan Reynolds did with Wrexham.
