Even though Johnny Depp’s character Jack Sparrow was credited with the infamous line, ‘did everyone see that as I will not be doing it again?’, the Disney actor could well be returning to the screen as the captain of the Black Pearl.

Johnny first starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003 before reprising his role four times in the franchise until 2017, appearing alongside the likes of Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush.

Despite a sixth movie reportedly being in the works, Johnny was dropped from the Disney franchise as a result of the domestic abuse allegations brought against him by his ex-wife Amber Heard last year.

However, following Johnny Depp winning the case in June 2022 after two days of deliberations, it looks like the wind may have changed the course of the Black Pearl to head right back to Depp.

Pirates’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked about the possibility of Johnny returning to the role at an Entertainment Weekly Q&A ahead of the Oscars earlier this week, to which he replied: “We’ll see. I would love it. I would love to have him in the movie - that’s all I can tell you.”

Thousands of fans would love to see Johnny Depp step back into the swash-buckling role, but could this be the next thing on the cards for the Disney actor? PeopleWorld takes a look.

Directly after Johnny won his case against Amber Heard in Virginia, the Fantastic Beasts actor took on several new hobbies including music and art.

Johnny was spotted hanging out with the late Jeff Beck and Sam Fender in Newcastle last June, as the former musician was on tour with the actor.

Alongside performing with Jeff Beck both in England and across the pond, Johnny followed a passion to create art collections entitled ‘Friends and Heroes’ in which he made silk portraits of popular icons including Bob Marley, Heath Ledger and Al Pacino.

The initial collection, sold just two months after the Depp-Heard case concluded, was put up for auction by Castle Fine Art in London and generated more than £3 million in a matter of hours, according to the BBC.

Continuing his passion for silk art projects, Johnny’s second collection sold at Castle Fine Art for £17,500.

In addition to filling his time painting pictures of his ‘friends and heroes’, Johnny seemingly has planned to work with one of his muses, Al Pacino, and step behind the camera for the first time in 25 years as he directs a biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.

Moreover, Johnny is set to feature as part of the Jeff Beck tribute concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London this coming May, alongside Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton, remembering the legendary guitarist who passed away in January.

With Johnny reportedly stepping behind the camera and potentially returning in front of the lens as Jack Sparrow ahead of his 60th birthday this summer, the 59-year-old has quite a busy future ahead of him for 2023.
