I’m choosing our hots and nots again today as our editor, Marina, takes a well deserved day off.
Our first choice for a hot is the talented Margot Robbie. The actress has taken her mum along to the premiere of Babylon in Los Angeles and both looked incredible. Margot wore a stunning black hooded dress, which looked dramatic and elegant at the same time.

Hide AdThe fact her mum, Sarie, raised Margot and three other siblings as a single parent is a testament to the woman she is and helped her daughter become.
It’s not the first time that Margot has brought her mum along to a red carpet event. In 2018, Sarie attended the Oscars alongside Margot. It’s a lovely close relationship they seem to have, and Sarie also maintains her own career helping disabled children as a physiotherapist – a career tangent she was able to make after Margot’s success (she previously worked with the elderly).
Margot’s career continues to go from strength to strength and she’s come a long way since her Neighbours acting days.
Our second hot for today is the presenter Paddy McGuinness. He joined nurses in the freezing cold last night in Liverpool to strike over their pay. Nurses are striking over real-terms pay cuts and drawing attention to concerns over patient safety.

Paddy stood at the picket line outside Alder Hey Children’s Hospital alongside the nurses and handed out hand warmers, food and flowers to the staff. We think his solidarity with NHS workers is very commendable and is part of a bigger issue with the cost of living crisis and the very real financial struggle for many.
There are many strikes at the moment, and all with their own strong reasons. We hope people get the pay increases they deserve and that other high profile celebrities add their voices to the cause. Paddy is certainly worthy of one of our hot picks for today.
Our third and final hot is Jason Manford. The comedian has spoken out about the rise in food banks being used and has said the government should be horrified at what is happening. He is right on every level.
The first of our nots for today is Emma Willis. Yes, she’s a very likeable presenter and yes she may have been sick when she did this, BUT… she liquidised her Christmas dinner. I think we can all agree this is a step too far (even if you do have tonsillitis at the time).

Hide AdOur next not is David Beckham. We’ve had him before as a not on the same subject. However, he’s released a statement to Joe Lycett’s money-shredding stunt, when Joe criticized David’s ambassador role at the Qatar world cup.
His statement doesn’t acknowledge the human rights side of things and the fact Qatar has a very dangerous approach to those in the LGBTQ+ community.
Last month, Joe pulled a stunt in which he threatened to destroy £10,000 of his own money unless the sports star pulled out of his deal with tournament hosts Qatar, where homosexuality is still illegal.
David's team remarked that the sportsman sees it as 'a positive that debate about key issues has been stimulated' from the World Cup being played in Qatar.

Joe couldn’t say anything directly to the statement as he was reading it out on his TV show Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back. However, he said earlier in the programme:
“I am angry at his blatant hypocrisy and failure to be an ally to the LGBTQ community.” Quite.

Our last not is Rebekah Vardy. She has described herself as ‘one of God’s strongest warriors’ after the Wagatha Christie trial, which she lost against Coleen Rooney earlier this year. There are so many issues in the world and despite losing a high-profile case being a horrible thing to happen, Rebekah was the one who brought the case in the first place.

Hide AdRebekah needs to get a stronger grasp on the world around her and see the bigger picture. She’s been jet-setting off on holidays with Jamie and the children. Many other people are struggling and could be given the true label of warrior.
Those are our hots and nots for today, and as usual please feel free to get in touch and share your thoughts on our choices:
