The Star Wars actor has not been quiet about his complaints regarding the rebranding of TwitterX since its announcement on July 25 2023.

Despite his intentions, it would appear that Mark Hamill, the beloved Star Wars actor that gave us one of cinema’s most iconic heroes (Luke Skywalker for the uninitiated), and his calls for a “Tweetless Tuesday” were, in fact, a case of boredom rather than political discourse.

At least that is his most recent line, after taking to TwitterX to once again comment on the rebranding of the social media platform, which Elon Musk began implementing on July 25 2023. “This will only be effective if EVERYONE refrains from tweeting (X-ing?) on August 1st a/k/a #TweetlessTuesday,” he tweeted on Sunday, in an “attempt” to rally his followers to refrain from posting on the platform.“Let’s show the owner the POWER OF THE PEOPLE. Honestly, would it kill you to keep your thoughts to yourself for 1 damn day? Read a book!”

Of course, Tuesday has come and gone and TwitterX was still a hive of “information;” prompting the 71-year-old to tweet “I won’t dignify accusations that this is a political statement when it is, in fact, simply an experimental STUNT because I’m bored & wanna see what happens.”

However, ahead of the proposed “Tweetless Tuesday,” Hamill remarked that the experiment had indeed worked, linking to an article by Fox News regarding the boycott and tweeting “HOORAY!!! I've successfully created a distraction. I feel like the new Green M&M! Thanks to all who helped make this a thing & yes, it already IS a thing. A dumb thing, but still…”

True to his work, Hamill went “dark” on Twitter for a full 24 hours, signing off ahead of his “boycott” with “All I want to do is this: I just want to find 10,011,780+ folks, which is way more than we have, to go silent tomorrow on Twitter. Not a HOAX! Not a SCAM! Just a PRANK to make August a little less blah. TUESDAY: DON'T BE HERE!”

Hamill’s contention towards the rebrand first began when he took aim at the unveiling of “X,” set to be the name of Elon Musk’s proposed “everything app” (much like China’s WeChat app), posted an image of the new sign at the San Francisco based offices and writing “Has everybody seen the (eXecrable) new logo?”
