The next big date in the 2023 film awards calendar has arrived, as the nominees for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced today. Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, Top Gun: Maverick, and Tár are expected to be among the top contenders at the awards ceremony in March.

All Quiet on the Western Front, a German-language Netflix anti-war film and remake of the third Best Picture winner, led the way at the Bafta nominations, with 14 nods, and is a contender for Best International Film at the Oscars.

Will Smith, who starred as a runaway slave in the historical drama Emancipation, is not expected to be nominated this year having torpedoed his chances when he slapped Chris Rock in the face at last year’s awards ceremony.

Smith, who later apologised for the ‘Oscars Slap’, was handed a 10 year ban from all Academy events. He is still eligible for a nomination, but don’t expect it to happen this year.

Two film stars will announce all of the films that have been nominated by the Academy for the most prestigious prize in filmmaking. This is how to watch the live stream, when it is on, and all of the categories that will be announced.
