Is this the reason why Meghan Markle was cold to Rebel Wilson? After Oprah Winfrey interview comment

Australian actress Rebel Wilson has described Meghan Markle as “not naturally warm” when the pair first met. Speaking on the Watch What Happens Live show with Andy Cohen, Rebel described how she met the couple through a mutual friend. 

The Pitch Perfect star,43, spoke openly about her first encounter and said Prince Harry “couldn’t have been nicer” but the Duchess “was not as cool" and "Meghan wasn't as naturally warm”. 

Rebel explained that she wasn’t sure why the Duchess was so cold to her but said it was possibly due to her mother Sue Bownds asking Meghan lots of personal questions. Rebel said: “My mum being Australian asked her all these slightly rude questions like, 'Where are your kids?' and things like that.”

But eagle-eyed fans believe they have found the real reason why Meghan may have been so cold to the actress. 

Footage has resurfaced of Rebel when she hosted the BAFTA Awards 2022. Dressed in a glitzy red dress the host said: “Our next package is for Outstanding British Film. From drama to horror to fantasy, Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all.”

She added: “Unfortunately, that's not nominated in this category, but some incredible films are. Let's take a look at some of the most outstanding British films this year”

In the Oprah Winfrey interview both Harry and Meghan made shocking revelations about life in the Royal family which forced them to leave and want to live in America.

It is not clear whether the awkward encounter happened before or after the BAFTAs joke but that hasn’t stopped fans jumping in to defend Harry and Meghan. 

One social media user wrote: “I am so confused with this woman? If I recall correctly Rebel Wilson spoke ill of Meghan at the BAFTAs - then expected her to be warm and friendly?”

Another person commented: “Hold on. Rebel Wilson's mum asks Meghan Markle rude questions and now Rebel is prattling on about how Meghan wasn't 'naturally warm' to them. There's a lot to unpick here but let's start off with the fact that you can't expect someone to be welcoming when you are rude to them.”

At the 2020 BAFTAs the comedian joked about the Royals when Prince and Princess of Wales were sat in the audience. In her opening speech Rebel said: "It is really great to be here at the royal Andrew, er, royal Harry – no, sorry – um, royal Phil... at this royal palace place."

The Royals looked uncomfortable as they laughed at the joke.
