Who is Alexandra Grant, as Keanu Reeves makes a rare comment about her during John Wick 4 interview

She’s been spotted on the red carpets with Keanu Reeves since 2019, but art lovers are already well aware who Alexandra Grant is.

During the recent round of interviews Keanu Reeves has undertaken for the latest in the John Wick film franchise, he brought up a name he doesn’t often disclose in interviews. But it is a name that has been a constant on the red carpets with the 58-year-old for a number of years now.

When asked by People Magazine about his last moment of bliss, the romantic Reeves responded: “A couple of days ago with my honey. We were in bed. We were connected. We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together.” That honey is long-term girlfriend Alexandra Grant, who first made appearances with the actor dating back to 2019, and has joined him on a number of red carpet events ever since.

It must be love for Reeves, who is normally quite protective regarding his private life; for him to openly discuss that moment of bliss is a rare insight into the love life of the actor, who in the past has been linked to Sandra Bullock and Winona Ryder - who, if you believe the crew involved in the 1992 production of Bram Stoker Dracula, were actually married on set during one of the scenes.

Or as Keanu described it during an interview, “we did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are, Coppola says we are. So I guess we are married under the eyes of God.”

But given that Keanu lost the love of his life, Jennifer Syme, in 2001 and the stillbirth of their child in 2000, it’s great to hear that he’s finding bliss once again. In the arms of a visual artist with quite the pedigree to her name also, we dig a little deeper into who Alexandra Grant is - and in turn find out that dating isn’t the only collaboration she and Keanu have worked on previously.

In her bio on her website, Grant is touted as “a Los Angeles-based artist who through an exploration of the use of text and language in various media—painting, drawing, sculpture, film, and photography—probes ideas of translation, identity, dis/location, and social responsibility.” Her work sees her frequently in collaborative efforts with other artists, but specifically with writers and philosophers, as her work is informed by original writings and philosophical discussions that provide the “impetus” to her stunning artworks and sculptures.

One of those collaborations also involved Keanu Reeves, that dates back to 2010 in the form of an “adult picture book” entitled Ode To Happiness. That book, which saw Grant use sumi ink on paper to bring the words of Keanu to life; the collaboration arose “from the authors’ friendship and facilitated behind-the-scenes by Janey Bergam, the book was created through a process of exchange, as a gift each collaborator gave the other.” So perhaps we should thank Janey Bergam for playing matchmaker.

Such has been the distinction of Grant’s work that she can boast being exhibited in such vaunted haunts as Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Los Angeles, CA, Lowell Ryan Projects, Los Angeles; Honor Fraser Gallery, Los Angeles; Night Gallery, Los Angeles; Galerie Lelong, New York City; Galerie Gradiva, Paris; and Harris Lieberman Gallery, New York City. Add to this that when she’s not being prolific in her field, she was also a college professor, she was hired as an adjunct professor at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, where she worked from 2009 to 2011.

During that time, she taught an MFA seminar at Cal State Northridge in 2010. She then served as a mentor in the Pacific Northwest College of Art's Distance MFA program from 2013 to 2014. She continued the duty at Syracuse University in 2015. Teaching runs in her blood - Grant’s parents were also professors during her younger years.

Their profession also led to Grant mastering two different languages alongside English - she’s fluent in both French and Spanish as Grant's childhood saw her attending a variety of different schools that introduced her to cultures outside of her own. She spent time at a British school in Mexico City, a boarding school in Missouri and the International School of Paris in Europe.

She’s quite the superstar in her own field, much like Keanu Reeves is in the field of film - and though Keanu is considered the “internet’s husband,” we’re confident no one is going to begrudge Reeves' happiness he has found on both a romantic and, it would appear, on a creative wavelength too.
