With the new Formula 1 campaign just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the Drive to Survive documentary series.
The third season covering the 2020 World Championship premiered in March last year and was the most-watched show on Netflix upon its release.
Here’s what you need to know about season four - and what will be covered.
What is Formula 1: Drive to Survive?
Drive to Survive is a documentary series following the FIA Formula One World Championship across multiple seasons and gives fans an exclusive behind the scenes look into what takes place both on and off the track.
Netflix also carries out interviews with the drivers to give viewers the chance to get to know the stars of the racing competition.
What will happen in season 4?
The good news is season four is already on its way and will focus on Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton’s title race during the 2021 season.
The pair were toe-to-toe throughout the season and went into the final race on equal points.
However, a controversial decision by race director Michael Masi on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen claim his first world title.
Hamilton was ahead for the majority of the race until a crash by Nicholas Latifi brought out the safety car with five laps remaining.
There were five cars between first-place Hamilton and second-place Verstappen, though all of those cars were behind the two race leaders in overall time.
Race officials initially decided those lapped cars could not overtake the safety car, but Masi flipped the decision and let the drivers separating Verstappen from Hamilton pass the safety car.
The race resumed with one lap remaining and Verstappen restarting second behind Hamilton. He passed Hamilton in the fifth turn and won.
The Netflix cameras were present to capture all the drama, and fans can expect to see it unfold once again in the upcoming season of the show.
Who will feature in Drive to Survive Season 4?
Lewis Hamilton may appear in the show, but Max Verstappen has confirmed he will not.
Speaking to the Associated Press, he said: “I understand that it needs to be done to boost the popularity in America. But from my side as a driver, I don’t like being part of it.”
He continued: “They faked a few rivalries which don’t really exist.
"So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that because then there is nothing you can show.
“I am not really a dramatic show kind of person. I just want facts and real things to happen.”
When Will Drive to Survive Season 4 be released?
Fans will be able to watch the full season on streaming site Netflix if they have a subscription.
