Steam free games: Which new games are free-to-play as Valve adds eight titles to digital storefront
A wave of free games has landed on Steam to celebrate the arrival of 2026.
Thousands of titles hit the platform every year, and much like with PlayStation and Xbox storefronts, a surprising number of them cost nothing at all.
The problem isn’t finding free games. It’s figuring out which ones are actually worth your time, especially if you just want a short, but fun, experience.

Free-to-play games have skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade, with titles such as Fortnite, Valorant, League of Legends and Marvel Rivals rising to the very top of the gaming space.
Steam has added eight new free games since January 1. Here are some of the stand-out games that have just been launched:
Poker Fate - ACG Texas Hold’em
An anime-style take on Texas Hold’em. It includes beginner-friendly tutorials, competitive duels for experienced players, and a range of tournaments if you want something more intense.
Youchosis
A psychological horror game set across strange dimensions as you search for “the perfect afterlife.” It leans heavily into unsettling imagery, so it’s not for everyone.
Space Aces
An indie space shooter built around online play. Expect fast action, tactical decisions, and competitive battles in a shared universe.
Diluted
A narrative-driven 3D side-scrolling puzzle and adventure game. You explore dark spaces, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover a story focused on fear, control, and nightmares.
Humanoid
A sci-fi shoot ’em up inspired by early eight-bit arcade games. It rewards aggressive play as you clear rooms and push forward.
Monstro Maestro
An action platformer where you play as a conductor who uses music as part of combat. If you like games such as Hollow Knight or Celeste, this one may click with you.
Little Smiles Daycare
A short psychological horror experience set inside an abandoned daycare. It’s brief, but designed to leave an impression.
Fall Asleep
A first-person horror platformer where you’re trapped in a nightmare and must escape by climbing upward through increasingly unsettling spaces.
Once you add these games to your Steam library, they are available to play permanently, even if the games are later removed from the store. Make sure to check the system requirements first to confirm your PC can run the games.
