The Grammys was originally due to take place on January 31, but the ceremony was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and concerns about the Omicron Covid variant at the time.

So, how many awards were given out, and who won each of them? Here’s everything you need to know.

How many Grammy award categories are there?

There are 86 categories at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

They are mainly broken down according to music genre, including pop, dance/electronic, rock, alternative, R&B and country.

There are also categories for the spoken word, musical theatre, composing, production and music video or film.

Two new categories have been added for this year’s awards: Best Global Music Performance (Global Music Field) and Best Música Urbana Album (Latin Music Field).

There are four highly-sought after general awards which aren’t determined by genre: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.

Who won the most Grammy awards?

American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo, and the Bruno Mars/Anderson Paak collaborative project, Silk Sonic, were the big winners of the night. Rodrigo took home three awards, while Silk Sonic took home four.

Rock band Foo Fighters won three awards at the event, only a few days after the unexpected death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.
