Hip-hop artist Bill K. Kapri, known to many by his stage name Kodak Black, is once again in trouble with the law - this time over a failed drugs test, leading to a judge in Florida to issue an arrest warrant for the rapper.

Black’s failed test means that he has breached part of his pretrial release agreement for a separate issue pertaining to drug trafficking - an allegation Black has denied.

Black had originally not turned up to a mandatory drug test in early February, but when he subsequently took the test a few days later, it showed that he had fentanyl in his system, a powerful opioid that has been considered a big problem of the US’s opioid crisis. It marks the latest legal problems the 'Super Gremlin' rapper has faced.

He has already managed to dodge prison time when then President of the United States Donald Trump commuted a three-year federal prison sentence the rapper had for falsifying documents used to buy weapons, with Black only serving half his jail time.

His latest arrest for drug trafficking comes after Black was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) for suspected illegal window tint.

After smelling marijuana and searching his SUV, police said they found 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash, according to an FHP press release. A record check also revealed that Black’s vehicle tag and driver’s licence were both expired. Black has pleaded not guilty to the charge, with his attorney stating “never judge a case based on an arrest.”

“There are facts and circumstances that give rise to a defence, especially in this case. We negotiated a bond of 75,000 and we will move forward with resolving the matter quickly.”

Kodak Black can boast selling more than 30 million singles since becoming a rapper, with massive hits such as “Super Gremlin,” which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 last year.

However, he has long been the subject of controversy due to his outspoken views - including addressing former partner of late rapper Nipsey Hussle, stating he would “wait” to have a sexual relationship with her only days after the death of the beloved hip-hop artist.
