As Dua Lipa is spotted with Romain Gavras in Paris, a look at his career and romance with Rita Ora

Dua Lipa is currently setting fashion trends with her new twist on the hooded look trend, but she also seems to be making the most of being in the city of love, Paris with new boyfriend Romain Gavras. The pair were photographed together leaving the Saint Laurent show. 

Dua split from Anwar Hadid, the brother of Gigi and Bella in 2021, and has reportedly been ‘quietly’ getting to know Romain for several months. The pair were spotted together leaving Netflix’s annual BAFTA Awards afterparty at the Chiltern Firehouse in London last week. 

Romain Gavras is a French filmmaker who is known for directing Jamie xx’s video ‘Gosh,’ Kanye West’s video ‘No Church in the Wild’ and M.I.A’s video ‘Bad Girls.’ He also directed the French epic action drama film ‘Athena.’ According to The Guardian, “Athena is a strident, searing account of social unrest in the Paris banlieues; a tale that frames urban warfare as an archetypal Greek tragedy; a film hailed by Sight & Sound as “the most exciting political thriller since Children of Men.”

Other than Dua Lipa, Romain’s most other high profile romance to date was with singer Rita Ora.

Romain and Rita reportedly dated for six months but are believed to have ended their relationship due to work commitments in 2021 and lockdown restrictions during the pandemic. The couple were last pictured together in November 2020.

In October 2020, Rita Ora sparked engagement rumours with Romain as she was spotted wearing a diamond on her ring finger. However, the relationship soon took a downward turn. 

Romain Gavras is the son of French journalist and film producer Michele Ray-Gavras and the Greek-film director Costa-Gavras whose 1969 thriller won an Oscar. Romain revealed in an article in The Irish Times that “At home, the only conversation was politics and cinema. I was not allowed to watch Walt Disney when I was a kid. I still don’t.”

Romain, 41, and Dua, 27, reportedly have a lot in common as they are both creatives within their respective industries. Dua is said to be currently putting the finishing touches to her ‘really personal third album.’
