On the anniversary of Elvis’s death, and Madonna’s 65th birthday, did the pair ever meet?

Did Madonna meet Elvis or is it all based on rumours? There has been a lot of discussion on the internet, particularly on Elvis fan sites regarding a photograph of Elvis Presley reportedly signing an autograph for a then 12-year-old Madonna. 

Although the girl in the photograph does resemble Madonna, the music star has not confirmed she ever met Elvis. However, in 2018, Madonna and her son David covered Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love,’

NME wrote in 2018 that “Posting a clip to her Instagram account, Madonna captioned it ‘Lisbon Living Room Sessions! On’ The video sees Madonna play guitar and sing while David accompanies her with piano and backing vocals”

In 2012, Madonna took over from Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most chart-topping albums in the market, This occurred when she landed her 12th UK. No. 1 album with ‘MDNA.’ According to Billboard, in 2021 Madonna pulled “clear of Presley’s collection of 11 titles. ‘MDNA’ sold 56,000 copies last week, according to the Official Charts Company.”

More recently, in lockdown during 2020, Madonna kept her fans entertained by playing an acoustic performance of Elvis Presley’s ‘Fools Rush In.’ Retropop wrote that “The Madame X star, who’s been documenting her time in isolation, with her kids on social media, took to the site with a new black and white clip. The Queen of Pop strummed her guitar as she performed a stirring rendition of the tune, amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.”

Elvis Presley, who was born in 1935, would have been celebrating his 88th birthday on the same day (August 16), Madonna is turning 65.
