Who is the R&B singer Giveon seen with Love Island’s Maya Jama in London?

Before Maya Jama jets off to South Africa to host the next season of Love Island, the television presenter has been seen getting close with American singer Giveon.

Rumours had spread that Maya was set to rekindle her romance with British rapper Stormzy after they both attended the 2022 British Fashion Awards, however Maya looked to enjoy the company of the ‘Peaches’ singer instead at the ceremony.

Giveon, whose real name is Giveon Dezmann Evans, attended the event in London before heading to the Chiltern Firehouse hotel with the presenter until 3am.

The pair were spotted again two days later, after it was reported that Maya invited Giveon to join her and her friends for dinner in Mayfair at Bacchanalia.

While one source suggests that Giveon is simply a friend of Maya’s, another has stated that the singer and presenter have enjoyed their ‘cosy dates’.

Who is Giveon?

Giveon Dezmann Evans was born in Los Angeles County, California in February 1995 and was raised with his two brothers by his single mother.

Giveon had always had a passion for music from a young age after being inspired by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Barry White and Drake, and his mother pushed him to chase his dreams by pursuing a music education programme at the Grammy Museum at the age of 18.

After studying the history of music, Giveon wanted to modernise the sixties jazz that he had fallen in love with, and has since released two EPs - Take Time and When It’s All Said and Done.

Many people may know Giveon from his song ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ which has been used nearly two million times on TikTok and reached Platinum status in June 2022, or from his features of Justin Bieber’s track ‘Peaches’ and Drake’s song ‘Chicago Freestyle’.

In his career, Giveon has been nominated for a Grammy award for his first EP, won an MTV Video Music award for his collaboration with Justin Bieber and Daniel Caesar in 2021, and performed at the 2022 Coachella festival. He is worth an estimated $1 million.

Most recently, Giveon released a new song for the Margot Robbie and Christian Bale movie ‘Amsterdam’ called ‘Time’, which was co-written by American rapper Drake.
