When we last checked in with Isis Naija Gaston, also known to fans around the world as Ice Spice, we delved into a little bit regarding her virality on social media through her “Munch (Feelin’ U)” single and the potential that she was Pete Davidson’s latest in a long line of romances - which ultimately proved to be false as Pete is still with Chase Sui Wonders.

But since then, all of a month and a half ago, quite a lot has happened in Ice Spice’s career that validates our original comments how Ice Spice is more than just another name linked to the former SNL cast member - so consider us smug when we saw that the Bronx native is currently blowing up on music television with the release of her latest single, “Princess Diana,” with the original queen of raunchy-rap, Nicki Minaj.

Released a week ago, “Princess Diana” debuted at number four on the Billboard Top 100 during its first week, with the subsequent music video - pink, pastelly and as risque as you would imagine a video including Nicki Minaj to be - already amassing over 25 million views since it’s premiere on YouTube a week and a half ago. The song itself began to conjure up comparisons to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, as social media users reposted split portraits of Ice Spice's and Diana's faces, with each half mashed side by side, across social media.

More people solidified the comparison when a video of her and American rapper Lil Tjay surfaced in which they handed Thanksgiving turkeys to people in the Bronx.

Ice Spice was called the Princess Diana of her generation and gained the nickname "The People's Princess", a title initially given to Diana, and a title that Nicki Minaj was more than happy to signal boost with her appearance in the song and video.

To enhance her mainstream presence even further, both Ice Spice and PinkPantheress have become one of the faces of Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand, with Ice Spice featuring in the latest advertising campaign alongside Nessa Barrett, PinkPantheress, and Raye.

“I’m excited to launch this next generation of Skims shapewear with a campaign that celebrates these incredible musical artists,” Kim Kardashian said in a statement. “Ice Spice, Nessa Barrett, Pinkpantheress, and Raye are super talented women and truly reflect our Skims community.”

This marks the second time that Ice Spice and PinkPantheress have collaborated on a project; the pair worked on Ice Spice’s single “Boy's a Liar Pt. 2” earlier this year, which marked the rapper’s first top ten appearance on the Billboard Top 100 - one of many to come, if the trajectory for Isis continues on the upward trend that it has done.
