Nameberry says that ‘Wolf is a name with a 'split personality'.

While it can be seen as a 'fierce' animal name, it can also be viewed as a 'quieter' name linked to its German origins.

It is a fairly common name in Germany and variations exist such as Wolfgang, Wolfhart, and Wolfram.

Surname variations of ‘Wolf’ also exist with Wolfe or Woolf.

“Wolves appear in a wide range of cultures, from Native American to Irish, and are often used to symbolise freedom. With this German name, you can encourage your baby to follow his instincts and face his problems head-on.”
