As Liam Payne reportedly ‘splits’ from Kate Cassidy, a look at his past girlfriends, including Cheryl

As soon as it looks like things were getting ‘serious’ between Liam Payne and girlfriend Kate Cassidy, the couple have reportedly broken up. According to The Sun, the couple “called time on their relationship earlier this week. Liam Payne and Kate sat down to discuss their future following his return from Los Angeles where he had been recording his new album.”

If reports are to be believed, Kate has already moved out of the home she was sharing with Liam, and flew back to the States. The couple had been dating for ten months. 

It was at Christmas time last year that things looked to be becoming more serious between the couple. They made their joint first public appearance at the British Fashion Awards in December of last year. When a fan sent him a direct message warning him that Kate was after his money, he reportedly responded by saying: “Gotta say you could tell me anything and I couldn’t be turned, I’ve never felt a love like I do for Katelyn. We make each other better people.”

Before dating Kate, Liam was in a relationship with Maya Henry and the pair got engaged in August 2020.  The couple split up for the second and final time in May 2022. According to People, “The former One Direction singer was first linked to Henry, a model, in 2018. They confirmed their romance in September 2019 and Payne popped the question to Henry in August 2020.”

Liam Payne’s most high-profile relationship to date has been with Cheryl, the couple share a son Bear, 5, together, and split just before he reached his first birthday. When Girls Aloud hosted a gala in memory of bandmate Sarah Harding who tragically passed away in September last year following a battle with breast cancer, Liam attended in order to show his support to former girlfriend Cheryl.

The couple of course famously met in 2008 when Liam, then 14, auditioned as a solo artist for The X Factor when Cheryl was a judge. They did not start dating until 2016 when Liam was 22 and Cheryl was 32, and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Global Gift Gala in Paris.

In March 2017 Cheryl gave birth to a baby boy, Bear and the couple announced the news on the 25 March, the day before Mothers Day. In July 2018, the pair announced that they were splitting up. On his Twitter account, Liam wrote: “Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
