Lulu is returning to her Scottish roots in an upcoming movie project as the singer revealed she is joining forces with Diane Keaton while appearing on Good Morning Britain.

Known for her chart-topping hit ‘Shout’ and her Eurovision winning track ‘Boom Bang-a-Bang’, Lulu has appeared in a handful of movies alongside being credited on their soundtracks since she started her career in 1964.

Now 74-year-old Lulu, full name Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, sang the title songs for the 1974 James Bond film ‘The Man with a Golden Gun’ and also ‘To Sir With Love’ a few years prior, to name a few.

Although Lulu has received acting credits for productions including 'The Cherry Picker', 'Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?' and 'To Sir with Love' as well as featuring as herself in movies like 'Absolutely Fabulous', the Glaswegian singer never had any professional acting training.

Lulu told Ranvir Singh and Robert Rinder on Good Morning Britain that she had been taking acting classes to prepare for some future projects, one of which allows her to return to her Scottish roots as a Glaswegian, alongside Academy Award winner Diane Keaton.

She said: “Next week I start making a movie with Diane Keaton in which I am for the very first time acting in a Glaswegian accent which is so exciting for me so I think the Scottish thing has an influence - 'ye canny kid anybody fae Glasgow!'

“I've acted but never had any training, so I have been taking acting class and enjoying it, so it would be great to put this in a part, and now I've got the film and I've been asked to do a television series which is an acting role again but the thrill about this one is that I'm Scottish I'm actually talking in my accent, back to my roots!"

It comes as Lulu is about to kick off her UK tour called ‘For the Record’ in April, which marks her first tour since 2019.

‘For the Record’ celebrates the 60th anniversary of Lulu’s debut breaking single ‘Shout’, and the singer is heading up to Scotland to kick the nationwide tour off - in an effort to ‘be with my people’, says Lulu.
