It's been a controversial 2022 for the woman who is the best-selling female recording artist of all time.

Madonna. A woman for whom a mononym is justified. She's spent much of this year bamboozling us all with her social media posts.

She has six children, four of whom are teenagers: why they haven't given her a tutorial on how to use platforms like TikTok and Instagram in a way that doesn't disturb her followers is a mystery.

Madonna's latest weird post was on Christmas Day. She appeared in Instagram posts in a video and image, first in black lingerie and then in a big fluffy jacket.

She shared a sultry video to the site which showed her clad in lacy black lingerie while gazing seductively at the camera.

The clip was set to Eartha Kitt’s flirty track “Santa Baby” and had obvious racy overtones, before it bizarrely concluded with a photo of Madonna alongside her four youngest children.

In the image, the singer was covered up in a fluffy jacket and a Santa hat as she posed alongside kids David, 17, Mercy, 16, Stelle, 10, and Estere, 10.

The post quickly clocked up hundreds of thousands of views and immediately raised eyebrows, with some wondering why the Material Girl icon would pair lingerie footage with a wholesome family photo.

“I’m uncomfortable,” one critic declared after watching the upload.

Sunday’s upload isn’t the first time Madonna has raised eyebrows with her unconventional family antics. In fact, 2022 has been quite the year for Madonna to showcase how NOT to use social media.

Back in April 2022, Madonna sparked a lot of concern on social media after posting a bizarre TikTok video.

Before the 2022 Grammy Awards kicked off, Madonna was seemingly at home wearing a very, very see-through top.

In the 13-second clip, Madonna leaned closer and closer to the camera.

Eventually, nearly her whole face filled the frame, before she pursed her lips in a kissing motion, despite the rest of her face remaining expressionless.

The short video has certainly left one corner of TikTok rather concerned about the pop icon, with several openly wondering about her welfare.

"Are you ok?" one user said.

Another described the video as 'completely unsettling', while a different user said they were 'honestly scared' by the video.

In November, the songstress took to Instagram Stories to share yet another eerie clip. This time, she can be seen staring blankly at the camera inside a dark car while her 1992 song “Waiting” plays.

This followed hot on the heels of a clip where she licked water out of a dog bowl and posed sexually with a variety of objects.

Fans were shocked to see such crude and unusual behaviour from the pop icon, with many leaving disappointed comments on her post.

One fan simply wrote, “What’s wrong with you?”

In October, she took to her social media accounts to twerk in lingerie and rap about punching people in their “motherf—king face.”

She also chose October to seemingly came out as gay before oddly admitting that she was 'not circumsized'.

“Embarrassing doesn’t even begin to describe this… ugh…” commented a user below Madonna's post.

She revealed at the end of 2021 she's an ardent supporter of the #FreeTheNipple movement after a series of pictures were deleted from her Instagram account by Meta.

The social media network is fairly strict went it comes to the presentation of a woman's nipple and will censor images of the body part because it's considered 'sexually explicit'.

Madonna, you continue to confuse and confound. Much of her career has been built on controversy and indeed fuels her popularity and creative process. She's a prime example of how social media doesn't convert the sentiment for every user. For all the headlines of 2022, she's a woman who continues to evolve.
