The official UK entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 has been announced on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this morning - with Mae Muller representing the UK in May in the Grand Finals. Muller will be performing at the event, held at the M&S Bank Arena, after weeks of speculation.

Alongside fellow Eurovision fan Rylan Clark (who described Eurovision as ‘gay Christmas’ for himself), the former X-Factor contestant spoke about how he did not envy the position the act would be in, but he was very much behind the selection of Mae Muller - who was on hand to announce herself - and incredibly excited.

Speaking to Zoe Ball, Muller said she was happy to finally reveal the news, having had to keep it a secret for so long. Muller knew that she would be the selection for two months, but that her time frame has been “so all over the place, it’s felt like a hot minute.”

The announcement was also made on the BBC Eurovision page where the UK's official Eurovision track was confirmed as 'I Wrote A Song'.

Mae Muller first received mainstream attention after releasing the single "Better Days" in 2021, with Swedish music collective Neiked and American rapper Polo G, which went on to chart in the top 40 in both the United Kingdom and United States.

Earlier this month, she released a single in collaboration with Sigala, Caity Baser and Stefflon Don called "Feels This Good".

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Finals will take place on 13 May 2023, and will be screened live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with a broadcast time to be confirmed closer to the event.
