MTV EMAs 2022: Bejewelled Taylor Swift bags four top awards as she attends awards ceremony for first time in a decade

Taylor Swift won big by collecting prizes for Best Video, Best Artist, Best Longform and Pop.

Taylor Swift was 'Bejewelled' at the 2022 MTV European Music Awards as she claimed four top prizes and dominated the awards ceremony that took place in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The 'Anti-Hero' singer, 32, took home four out of the six awards that she was nominated for while Harry Styles won Best Live Performance and Nicki Minaj won Best Song for 'Super Freaky Girl'.

Taylor has been re-recording some of her earlier albums to regain control of her work and earnt the top spot in the Best Video, Best Artist, Best Longform and Pop categories.

One of the most popular re-releases is Taylor’s 'All Too Well', which was first released in 2012 and re-released alongside a 10-minute short film featuring stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien.

The music video itself has surpassed 78 million views on YouTube and clinched the top spot for Taylor in the Best Video category.

‘All Too Well’ was not the only subject making a resurgence after a decade, as Taylor’s 2022 in person appearance was the first since 2012; having last been at the EMAs when she closed the evening with a performance of 'We Are Never Getting Back Together'.

This year, as power couple Taika Watiti and Rita Ora hosted the evening, Taylor dedicated her triumphs to her allegiance of fans who are called ‘Swifties’.

Collecting her prize for Best Video, Taylor said: “Sometimes I think about all the ways in which this short film and this moment almost never happened. The fans willed this to happen.”

She continued to praise her listeners during her acceptance speech for Best Artist as Baywatch’s David Hasslehoff handed her the trophy.

She added: “There’s not a single moment I take this for granted. I love you so much, I can’t believe I get to do this as a job, and it’s all because of you. Thank you so, so much.”

As she dominated the evening, Taylor also teased her upcoming tour which has so far, only given dates in the US.
