After all our excitement The Late Late Show has completely squashed rumours of a One Direction reunion in a Twitter post.

On the official Twitter profile the show wrote: "Nobody loves the boys more than us … but this story just isn’t true. What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2 hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th."

All five members of the band were set to reunite for the last ever episode of James Corden’s Late Late Late show. It would have been the first time all five of the boys, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, would have performed together in eight years after the band took an indefinite hiatus.

James's last ever show will be on the 27 April after he took over the show in 2015. In that same year the One-D boys -after Zayn left the band - appeared on the comedian's ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segment of the show.

According to their public schedules, it appeared that the stars had aligned and they would have all been available to be on the show.

Harry is on a break from his Love on Tour until May, Louis recently cancelled the Asia leg of his tour although this was due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. Niall doesn’t have any scheduled performances until May, Zayn doesn’t have anything scheduled and Liam only has Soccer Aid in June.

James and the boys have been close friends for years especially with Harry, so it would be fitting to have them on the final show. Many fans have said that if anyone would get the band back together it would be him.

The final episode of The Late Late Show will feature celebrity appearances from Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck and Mila Kunis and an hour long special of Carpool Karaoke. So although it's only rumours at this stage, all the signs were pointing in the right direction!
