The self-crowned ‘Queen of Christmas’ Mariah Carey made a dazzling return to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade after being away from the festivities for seven years.

Mariah, 52, brought in the Christmas season by singing ‘All I Want for Christmas’ along with a ditty of her other tunes in New York.

Despite the sparkling tiara, bright red dress and the surprise appearance of her 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah failed to impress fans as they blasted the singer for her ‘blatant lip-syncing’.

The disaster echoes Mariah’s last live performance in 2016, when the ‘Fantasy’ singer appeared for the New Year’s Eve ball but stormed off stage following another lip-sync blunder.

Mariah was due to sing ‘Emotions’ and ‘We Belong Together’ for Times Square and ring in the New Year, however due to a technical glitch, she became increasingly out of sync with her backing track.

The 2022 Thanksgiving Parade brought all the ‘Emotions’ back to the stage as Mariah landed in hot water again for her dodgy miming, with fans accusing her pitch-perfect vocals being the exact same as the 1994 track.

Although Mariah has been blasted several times for her obvious lip-syncing fails, People World remembers other female artists who have made the same mistake.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is marking her return to the spotlight this Christmas as she stars in new Netflix movie, ‘Falling for Christmas’.

However, the 36-year-old actress and singer, has fallen from grace before not only by rising an enormous debt but also failing to lip-sync properly on Good Morning America when she was promoting her first studio album, ‘Speak’.

Ironically enough, Lindsay Lohan failed to ‘Speak’ or in this case sing two minutes into the song as she missed her cue, highlighting the fact that she was not performing live in 2004.

Selena Gomez

Like Mariah returning to the stage after seven years, Selena Gomez returned to the 2017 American Music Awards after a kidney transplant operation.

Performing her new release ‘Wolves’ invited some wolves to suggest the singer was lip-syncing the whole tune, as she ‘had her head down and hair covering her face for 99% of the performance.’

This potential lip-sync fail has been questioned by other dedicated fans who suggested that Selena was instead using a special microphone for effect, or the blunder was caused by an overpowering backing track.

Shakira

In light of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, one can throw it back to the 2010 Fifa World Cup when Shakira opened the Kick-Off Celebration with a performance of ‘Waka Waka’.

For such a large event, it came as no surprise that Shakira would lip-sync to a backing track, but the criticism comes that at some points of her World Cup song, Shakira didn’t even open her mouth.

In addition, the backing track began before Shakira even stepped on stage. ‘Waka Waka’ more like ‘Wakey Wakey’ Shakira!
