S Club 7 have taken to Twitter to share the tragic news that band member Paul Cattermole has passed away at the age of 46. “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.”

It was only in February that S Club 7 announced their reunion to celebrate their 25th anniversary in the business and made the announcement on BBC One’s The One Show. They released a statement to say that “It feels amazing to announce that we’re reuniting and performing together again. We’re so excited to bring the S Club party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7.”

Following the news of his death, Paul’s family released a statement. “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.”

The S Club 7 band, which also includes Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh and Jo O’Meara, were due to reunite for an 11-date tour of the UK and Ireland. No announcement has been made as yet if the band will continue.

S Club 7 were not the first band to announce they were getting back together after a long period. The three original members of Sugarbabes announced that they would be undertaking a tour of the UK and Ireland in mid-2023. Take That are set to perform at BST Hyde Park on July 1 2023.
