Shakira is letting her music do the talking, as she recovers from the heartache of her split from Gerard Piqué .

Piqué, former Manchester United and Barcelona defender, has moved on quickly with a much younger new woman, Clara Chia Marti (23). Shakira is 10 years older than her former beau.

It's a tale as old as time. And Shakira is using the time analogy to work through some of her emotions.

The singer-songwriter says in her latest lyrics, 'I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.'

The Colombian singer, 45, has collaborated with producer Bizarrap on a brand new track, Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53, which was released in Spanish on Wednesday, January 11.

In an apparent dig at the Barcelona defender, Shakira sings, 'A lot of gyms. But work your brain a little bit too.'

It's hard to disagree. It does seem foolish of Gerard to leave Shakira. It might be explained by some further lyrics...

Shakira, who is facing a £12 million tax fraud trial in Spain, sings, 'You left me the mother-in-law as a neighbour. With the press at my door and a debt with the taxman.'

Did Gerard find the reality of life and helping a partner through a tough time a little bit too much like hard work? He certainly appears to have found a more simple existence with the 23-year-old student and work colleague, Clara.

Shakira makes another clear allusion to Clara with the lyrics, 'She’s got the name of a good person. Clearly is not how it sounds.'

'Clearly' in English translates as 'Claramente' in Spanish, clearly referencing Clara, as one fan pointed out.

Shakira and Gerard announced their split after 11 years together in June and they share two sons - Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven.

Shakira will use this devastating time to produce a bounty of music, no doubt, as many artists use difficult moments for inspiration.

As she said on Instagram post about healing after betrayal on New Year's Day, 'Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon's hands. Even if someone has betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.'

She continued, 'When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.'
