Sinead O’Connor, the iconoclastic Irish singer who reached the pinnacle of fame with the release of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” will finally be laid to rest this morning in a combined private service and public procession from 10:30am. The funeral is expected to be based around Islamic rights, given the singer's conversion to the faith in 2018 and the spotting of an Imam and moment of prayer for those not at the funeral at 11am.
A tribute to Sinéad O'Connor was unveiled on a cliff close to Bray before the funeral procession. The tribute features large white letters spelling out "Éire loves Sinéad" and was designed by the creative agency The Tenth Man.

Hide AdThough the funeral itself has been shrouded in privacy, those wishing to pay their respects will still be able to do so as her funeral procession will go through the seaside town. The procession route will begin at the Harbour Bar end of Strand Road, where O'Connor lived for 15 years, and then head along the seafront.
Those planning to attend the funeral procession are encouraged to use public transport, especially the Dart (Dublin Area Rapid Transit), which can bring people directly to the seafront in Bray. There will be road closures also in Bray, with the Strand Road/Promenade area seeing traffic will be diverted onto Adelaide Road during this time. Additional road closures may be implemented by the Gardaí (Irish police).
The Gardaí have asked members of the public to gather between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM local time and attendees are reminded to maintain a respectful and solemn demeanor throughout the event. Organisers have stated that this is a time to honour and remember Sinéad O'Connor, so be considerate of the occasion and those around you.
O’Connor’s family released a statement regarding the procession and the particularly warm links the singer had to the seaside town. “Sinead loved living in Bray and the people in it,” the statement said. “With this procession, her family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love for her from the people of Co Wicklow and beyond, since she left last week to go to another place.
