Who is Louise Verneuil? Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner's girlfriend

It’s Glastonbury weekend thousands of music lovers and festival goers have travelled to Worthy Farm in order to see their favourite bands. The Arctic Monkeys will headline the infamous Pyramid stage on Friday night. The band's performance was hanging by a thread after frontman Alex Turner contracted laryngitis.

Other headline acts include Guns N’ Roses on Saturday night with Sir Elton John and a rumoured special guest on Sunday. 

Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed that the band's performance will go ahead according to the BBC. This comes after Alex’s girlfriend Louise Verneuil hinted that she was on her way to the festival. She shared an Instagram story appearing to be in a vehicle with the text ‘go glasto’. 

Who is Alex Turner's girlfriend Louise Verneuil? 

Louise Verneuil, 34, is a French singer-songwriter. Her real name is Pauline Louise Benattar but she goes by her stage name Louise Verneuil. 

Growing up she was inspired by many iconic musicians including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Beatles David Bowie, and Serge Gainsbourg.

She moved to Paris at the age of 22 and decided on the stage name Louise after her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her surname, Verneuil, inspired by the street name Rue de Verneuil where Serge Gainsbourg once lived. 

At the age of 23 Louise was a contestant on France’s singing competition ‘The Voice: la plus belle voix’ and had never performed in front of a live audience before. She got as far as the quarter-finals before being eliminated from the show. Shortly after the show Louise went on to record an album but didn’t release it. It wasn’t until eight years later that she released her debut album Lumiere Noire.

Louise reportedly met Alex in 2018 when he was touring with the Arctic Monkeys to prime their studio album Tranquillity Base Hotel & Casino. After six years together Alex moved from Los Angeles abc to the UK so that the couple could be closer to her home country of France. They now split their time between London and Paris. 

Louise shared a cute picture of the pair kissing on social media with the caption “…and I Love Him. - bon anniversaire mon Amour.”

Alex previously dated model Alexa Chung, actress Arielle Vandenberg and model Taylor Bagley.
