Cher Lloyd announces she’s expecting once again - how did she meet her husband, hair stylist Craig Monk?

Congratulations are in order for former X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd and her husband, Craig Monk today! Lloyd announced that the pair are expecting their second child, as the “Want U Back” singer took to Instagram to share a video of a picture of her ultrasound with a baby’s bonnet slightly above the image. 

The singer and her partner are already well adept with the challenges that come with a newborn bundle of joy; the pair welcomed their first child, a daughter named Delilah-Rae, in May 2018, with Lloyd being very open about her journey to motherhood during this time and subsequently has spoken about how much she loves being a mom.

But despite having married in 2013, there are still a group of people who aren’t familiar with who her husband, Craig Monk, is. The pair have been incredibly private regarding their family life, to the point that the pair wed in secret with the world only finding out after their announcement. It is safe to say though that the way the pair met is the equivalent of a silver screen meet cute, and it all centred around the act of getting hair extensions at upmarket salon Four in London. 

Yes, believe it or not, Cher Lloyd first met Craig Monk when she booked herself into a salon to get hair extensions back in 2011. In her own words to Metro in 2014, she revealed the first meeting wasn’t her most glamorous of moments; “It's embarrassing how we met when I think about it. I went to a hair salon to get my hair done just after I got off 'The X Factor'. I wanted to go for a cigarette but I couldn't go out the front because it was swimming with paparazzi. He was the only one who could take me out the back. So that's where I met him."

"I had a plastic bag over my head because I was getting my hair stripped so it was ginger at the time and I had taken half my make-up off because I had a pimple and spots so I wanted my skin to breathe. I remember he touched my arm saying, 'Let's have a look at your tattoos', but blatantly he was just touching my arm.”

Such has been the secrecy that there is very little written about Craig Monk - maybe a first when it comes to celebrity couples. What we do know however is that Delilah-Rae isn’t the first child the hair stylist has had. That honour is bestowed upon one Tillie Searle, though there have been claims by Sunny Searle that his visits to his firstborn are few and far between, in a tell all interview with The Mirror in 2018.

At that stage, Sunny admitted that Craig had returned from an excursion with Cher to the United States and moved within three-minutes distance to Tillie and his ex, with Monk apparently claiming he was ready to be a better father for Tillie - perhaps maturing with age now he’s come to grips with family life.
