Social media and Ariana Grande don’t seem to be able to coexist if the events of the last week are anything to go by. Late last week, Grande took to TikTok to reveal to her followers her past struggles with body image, revealing that when many said she looked at her best, she was in fact dealing with issues with alcohol. A shaven headed, forlorn look from Grande had some of her followers worried about her mental health, and now as someone closes their social media accounts, it’s the proverbial smoke from a potential break-up bonfire.

Grande’s husband, real estate magnate Dalton Gomez, had closed all his social media accounts recently, leading to many suggesting that this is the smoking gun regarding the downfall of their marriage. That, alongside the demeanour of Grande and the way she is “acting” lately, have lent more weight to suggestions that the pair, who married in 2021, have called it quits.

However, it is also important to note that Gomez has been relatively low-key in terms of his public presence compared to some of Grande’s other notable partners - both Pete Davidson and the late Mac Miller. So perhaps Gomez seceding from social media, a platform that he wasn’t quite as active on compared to Grande, is more the fact he isn’t a fan of it that a bread-trail leading to the revelation of a divorce. Or given that his real estate business did use social media to promote the brand, perhaps it’s more trouble in the workplace than trouble in paradise.

Gomez’s net worth has been estimated to be around £20 million, most of which made through real estate deals; with so many celebrities selling up their properties perhaps Gomez’s business is going through a transitional period and walking away from social media is a means of just pumping the breaks on his career ahead of a change of career or a shift in estate agents. Aaron Kirman Group however have boasted about the success of Gomez, writing on their website that he is a “six year veteran of the Luxury Real Estate Market” and “‘holds one of the largest rolodexes of A-list buyers and is already connecting many high profile deals across the city’ of LA.” So maybe it could be a simple case of Gomez being poached rather than a Glengarry Glen Ross situation.

Then there is the simplest answer why Dalton Gomez has shut down his social media; he’s just tired of being messaged with questions about his relationship with the singer. His social media accounts at one stage before being closed were all set to private, which would indicate perhaps a form of harassment from Grande fans regarding his marriage to the star, as Gomez as previously mentioned has managed to keep a low-profile for the most part.

Whatever is going on between Grande and Gomez, the rumours have split the fanbase, with many taking to social media showing their love and support to Gomez, especially when news like this landed in gossip columns, while others simply don’t believe the rumours and find them unfounded and merely drawing conclusions from nothing.

Unfortunately, this is one situation that you can file under “watch this space” regarding the dissolution of another celebrity marriage - we hope it’s more a case of protecting his privacy than it is trouble between the forthcoming Wicked actress and the real estate ace himself.
