Part two of the fourth season of Netflix’s You is currently streaming on the platform, picking up on the latest exploits of Joe (played brilliantly by Penn Badgley) as he escaped his former life in the United States for a clean slate in England. Or so he thought… spoilers end there.

The latest series of the popular thriller was shot almost completely on location across London and surrounding areas, capturing the distinctive feel of the world of the elite that Joe has somehow managed to worm his way into. Illustrious institutes of further education, Kensington style homes and Hampsie House all locations that have captivated audiences after the first half of the new season dropped last month.

But Londoners being Londoners, no doubt many would have caught glimpses of familiar surroundings. Is Joe’s flat near Cornwall Gardens in Kensington? I’m sure Phoebe’s flat is something straight off the streets of Belgravia. Is that actually Knebworth House that is standing in for a country estate?

The good folks at TUDUM have provided information where each pivotal moment in the story was filmed, and while some of those areas such as Regent Street seem obvious upon first glance, a couple of filming locations aren’t quite as recognizable to the keen eye.

So get your Oyster card ready, make yourself a packed lunch and get ready for a little bit of sightseeing, as Peopleworld brings you a brief tourists guide to some of the locations used for You, and how to get there. All information correct as of writing and sourced from Transport for London’s Journey Planner.

Joe’s residence since moving to London happens to be one of the more picturesque areas of London, Kynance Mews. Just a stone’s throw away from another filming location near the area, Cornwall Gardens, this area of Kensington is one of the more costly areas of London to own property in. Which is saying something given the age old joke how expensive living in the capital is anyway.

According to Rightmove, the last time a property was sold on Kynance Mews was sold for £1,700,000 in 2021. That was a 469% increase from its original value of £295,000 in May 1995.

How to get there from Trafalgar Square: The 9 bus to Palace Gate will take you to the Royal Albert Hall. From here, it is a ten minute walk to visit Joe’s flat ay Kynance Mews, and an additional five minute walk to Cornwall Gardens.

For the luxurious flat that the character Phoebe owns, producers have opted for the glamour that is one of the many Four Seasons hotels that litter around London. Its precise location, according to Netflix, is 10 Trinity Square - much more costlier than the other options, so perfect for a Netflix budget.

If you want to live like Phoebe for one night, in accommodation that is 527 square feet, stunning city views and the option to have a spa during your flight of fancy, prepare to pay a princely sum - the going rate for one room is currently £1,000 and set to soar closer to King Charles III’s coronation.

Not quite the touching distance compared to the other locations - in fact, the building used to shoot the exterior of Darcy College is 20 minutes outside of London. Despite its name, the Royal Holloway campus of the University of London is in Egham, Surrey.

The Surrey campus however is home to the Founder’s Building; one of the world’s most spectacular university buildings, and home to the university’s  famous Picture Gallery containing Thomas Holloway’s fine collection of Victorian paintings and our beautiful chapel. It also houses a dining hall and library and provides a home for 500 students.

How to get there from Phoebe’s Flat: this one is a bit of a journey - a near two hour journey in fact. However…

The exteriors of Darcy College Library more hallowed than even the show purports - this is actually Lincoln’s Inn, home to the The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. The society is a 600-year-old “unincorporated association of students, barristers and judges … dedicated to the qualification, training and development of our members at all stages of their legal careers, in a collegiate and inclusive environment,”

How to get there from Darcy College: Back we go then; you’ll need to make your way back to the railway station at Egham, catching the South Western Railway to London Waterloo, hopping off at Waterloo Station and walking down Waterloo Road for 152 metres and then catching the 521 bus to Holborn Station.

“Knebworth, where we went, is very filming-friendly,” showrunner Sera Gamble told Netflix’s behind-the-scenes website, Tudum. “You may have seen it in other shows or films. It had everything we needed — we were so lucky."

The Hampsworth House scenes were split between filming at Knebworth House in Hampshire and for the more woodland scenes at the Black Park Country Park in Slough. You, intrepid traveller, have two options - another near two hour trek to Knebworth House (worth it) or a 33 minute trip to Black Park Country Park.

To get to Hampsie House from Darcy College Library: Another trek - but we assure you it is worth it. You’ll want to walk back to Holborn Station and take the Piccadilly line to King’s Cross St.Pancras. From there you’ll need to make a short walk to King’s Cross Rail Station, then catch the Thameslink to Knebworth. After that, it’s a 35 minute walk to Old Knebworth Lane.
