Who is Annabel Scholey, actress playing Anne Marie in hit series The Sixth Commandment?

The Sixth Commandment premiered on the BBC on Monday and has since captured the imagination of television viewers across the UK. The drama centres around the true events that led to the deaths of Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin in Buckinghamshire, and the events that unfolded afterwards. It follows the meeting between an inspirational teacher and a charismatic student that led to one of the most complex and confounding criminal cases in recent memory.

The four-part drama stars Timothy Spall as the teacher Peter, Eanna Hardwicke as the student Ben Field, Anne Reid as retired headmistress Anne and Annabel Scholey as Anne’s niece Anne-Marie. The real life Anne-Marie was the first person to alert Thames Valley Police of Ben’s actions. 

Who is Annabel Scholey? 

Many viewers may have recognised the actress, 39, from BBC hit series ‘The Split’ where she played Nina alongside Nicola Walker, who she is close friends with outside of work. 

Annabel is originally from Wakefield, Yorkshire and trained at the Oxford School of Drama, leading to her starting her career as theatrical performer. In 2011 she played Lady Ann in the production of "Richard III" with Kevin Spacey in the titular role at The Old Vic Theatre in London and the Brooklyn Academy in New York. 

The actress has also starred alongside the legendary Dame Judy Dench in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ Alongside featuring in TV shows including Holby City, Doctors, EastEnders, Personal Affairs and Doctor Who. The actress was also the voice of Ginny Weasley in the video game version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Annabel married Northern Irish actor and author Ciarán McMenamin, the couple live in South east London with their four year-old daughter Marnie. Ciarán who previously vowed he would never to date an actress - until he met Annabel is best known for his role in Primeval and Hope Street. He also wrote the books ‘Skintown’ and ‘The Sunken Road’.

The actress has an estimated net worth between $1 - $5 million USD, but given the interest in both her role on the show and herself, check back in a year's time and we're sure that figure will no doubt change with the bigger acting roles she should receive after her performance in The 6th Commandment.
