Fans question why Aubrey Plaza looked annoyed at SAG Awards but she's not the first to lose temper on stage

When accepting an award you are expected to feel many an emotion including joy, relief or gratitude, so fans were questioning why Aubrey Plaza looked ‘annoyed’ when claiming White Lotus cast awards at the 2023 SAGs.

The star who rose to prominence through sitcom Parks and Recreation joined her castmates from White Lotus including Theo James and Jon Gries on stage as they won ‘best cast ensemble from a drama series’.

While she initially looked happy to win, fans saw Aubrey looking ‘p***ed off’ after Jon Gries whispered something in her ear - many believing he was warning the actress of a wardrobe malfunction, as she immediately adjusted her Michael Kors dress.

Fans commented on Aubrey seemingly saying ‘Jesus Christ’ under her breath before being one of the first off stage when the rest of the cast were exchanging hugs.

One fan tweeted: “[She] looked like she hated being up there and immediately ran off the stage while everyone in the cast was congratulating and hugging each other.”

Another said, “What was she annoyed about?” while someone else tweeted: “There was something really odd about her on stage with the White Lotus team.”

Aubrey was seemingly in higher spirits later on into the ceremony when she posted candid pictures with Jon and the rest of the cast, but as fans question Aubrey’s behaviour, we look at other stars who have lost their temper at awards ceremonies:

One of the most infamous instances in which a celeb lost their rag was Will Smith at the Oscars in 2022, when the King Richard star slapped the host Chris Rock following a joke about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith who had shaved her head after being diagnosed with alopecia.

While the Academy Awards have made a crisis team to help with future situations that take place during their live broadcast, Will shouted ‘keep my wife’s name out of your mouth’ before storming onto stage. 

The 2015 VMAs had many controversial moments for musical stars including Kanye West’s epic rant and Presidency announcement and Nicki Minaj taking aim at the show’s host Miley Cyrus after she claimed the Flowers singer had disrespected her in an interview.

Nicki said: “Back to this b**** who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?!”

While the Anaconda performer voiced her opinion that night after winning a ‘moon man’, the aforementioned Kanye West has lost his temper in another MTV awards ceremony when in 2009, he stormed the stage to voice his opinion about Taylor Swift winning best female video in comparison to Beyoncé. 

The clip has been seen nearly 15 million times on YouTube and kicked off an ongoing dispute between the two singers.
