Fiona Harvey said she has been ‘forced’ into telling her side of the story during an interview with Piers Morgan.

Baby Reindeer is one of the hottest shows on Netflix right now. Written by and starring Richard Gadd, it tells the true story of his experience of being stalked. The series has amassed over 22 million views, leading to internet sleuths working hard to reveal the identities of people depicted in the show.

Fiona Muir-Harvey was quickly dubbed the “real-life” Martha, this is despite Gadd asking taking to Instagram to ask viewers not to “speculate”. The Scottish lawyer sat down with Piers Morgan in an interview on his YouTube channel Piers Morgan Uncensored to set the record straight.

In the interview with Morgan, Harvey revealed she is going to sue both Netflix and the series creator over the “defamatory” depiction of herself, revealing that she had been “forced” into telling her side of the story after receiving death threats from “internet sleuths”.

Baby Reindeer stars comedian Richard Gadd, in the Netflix series he plays a fictionalised version of himself who gets stalked by a woman called Martha Scott played by Jessica Gunning.

What has Fiona Muir-Harvey said about Baby Reindeer?

Harvey repeatedly denied stalking Gadd, describing Baby Reindeer as “a work of fiction, a work of hyperbole”. The 58-year-old said she was prepared to go to a court of law over the series.

When asked by Morgan if she will “categorically be taking legal action”, she replied: “Absolutely, against both him (Gadd) and Netflix.” She explained she had instructed lawyers in part, but “we want to explore all the options out there, there are a number of people to sue”.

During the interview, Harvey referenced a scene in the show where the character Martha admits to intimidating Gadd’s character and receives a nine-month prison sentence. She explained: “That is completely untrue, very, very defamatory to me, very career damaging. I wanted to rebut that completely on this show – I am not a stalker, I have not been to jail, I’ve not got injunctions – it is complete nonsense.”

After Baby Reindeer was released speculation grew over the identities of the real people who inspired the series. Gadd took to Instagram stories urging fans not to “speculate”. He said: “Hi everyone, people I love, have worked with, and admire… are unfairly getting caught up in speculation. Please don’t speculate on who any of the real life people could be. That’s not the point of our show.”

The interview has been met with controversary due to concerns about the ethics of interviewing Harvey, with viewers concerned for her welfare. After announcing the interview, one user commented on Morgan’s post on X: “This is exploitation of a person who is in a vulnerable position. Clearly unethical.” Whilst another penned: “This guy has absolutely no shame!”
