Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan are set to host the BAFTA TV Awards from London’s Royal Festival Hall tonight (Sunday 14 May 2023). On the 22nd March, Rob Beckett shared an Instagram post where he said: “Say hello to the new hosts of the bafta awards. Greatest decision ever or huge mistake. You decide on 14th May when me @romeshranga shut down @bafta.”

Rob Beckett has been married to Louise Watts (a former history teacher) since 2015  The couple have two daughters together and Rob sometimes shares photographs of them on social media.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2021, Rob explained how his wife had to do everything before lockdown. “I didn’t realise and I don’t think Lou even realised, how much she was doing on her own,” he explained. “Before lockdown, I was working all day on TV shows and doing tour shows in the evening and I’d been to LA, South Africa and Paris before January. I was never home and Lou had to do everything  which wasn’t good for her or me.”

Romesh Ranganathan is married to Leesa Ranganathan and the couple have three children together, Theo, Alex and Charlie. The couple met at Hazelwick School in Crawley, Romesh was working as a Maths teacher whilst Leesa was teaching drama. 

In an interview with Marie Claire in 2018, Romesh said that “When I started doing stand-up, I resigned from my job as a maths teacher, and three days before I was due to leave, my dad passed away. I wasn’t able to focus on work, we couldn’t pay the bills and our car was taken away, but Leesa never showed a lack of faith.”

Amelia Dimoldenberg, the broadcaster and creator of Chicken Shop Date, is joining the BAFTA Television Awards as a Backstage host. She shared an Instagram Story where she said: that she is “very excited to be the Backstage Host at this year's BAFTA Television Awards with P & O Cruises.”

The singer Lewis Capaldi recently appeared on Amelia’s popular YouTube series Chicken Shop Dates and the eipisode currently has 827K views. Lewis will be able to catch up with Amelia again at the BAFTA Television Awards as he will be performing.
