The BBC has released its annual report for the highest paid presenters with Gary Lineker topping the list for the sixth year in a row earning a huge £1.35 million. This comes four months after the Match of the Day host was briefly suspended from the show over comments he made criticising the Government.

The list featuring the top ten presenters on TV and radio for the broadcasting company saw just four women on it. Radio 2 host Zoe Ball came in second on the report and is the highest female earner with £980,000.

Further down was the second highest female earner, News presenter Fiona Bruce, who  came in sixth earning £395,000.  However, she was still way behind fellow newsreader Huw Edwards who was fourth on the list and with earnings of £435,000.

Match of the Day presenter Alan Shearer, and Irish radio host Stephen Nolan both earned over £400,000. Radio presenters Ken Bruce and Greg James both earned over £390,000 beating radio presenter Lauren Laverne and journalist Sophie Raworth.

According to the BBC the annual report doesn’t list all its presenters as it does not have to make public the salaries of stars who are paid through its commercial arm BBC Studios or independent production companies.’

This means that fan favourites including Michael McIntyre, Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman and Graham Norton were all notably missing from the list because of how they are paid.
