Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard had the nation in stitches last year, when she revealed the pet name she gave to her husband.
Callard has been married to record studio owner Jon McEwan for 11 years, since meeting in Spain.
During her stint on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, she told her campmates that his nickname is ‘Mega sh*g’, while also telling how he is her best friend and soulmate.
Since then, Callard and fellow campmate, radio 1 DJ Jordan North, have gone on a whirlwind trip across Spain to plan her vow renewal to her husband.
Beverley and Jordan: Destination Wedding showed the pals travelling around Spain in a bid to find the perfect dress, food, venue and wine for her big day.
So, who is the lucky man Callard has been married to for over a decade? This is what you need to know.
Who is Beverley Callard’s husband?
64-year-old Bev has been married to Jon McEwan since 2010, but the pair have been together for more than 16 years.
McEwan is a recording studio owner who spent many years living in Spain, where he eventually met Beverley.
She has previously described her doting husband as her “rock”, adding that he had no idea who she was when they met.
Jon, 56, is not in the public eye, which might be why she decided to take part in ‘Destination Wedding’ with her new best friend, Jordan North.
Beverley has spoken openly about her battles with depression and anxiety, which twice has led to attempts to take her own life.
She has previously praised Jon with nursing her back to health, he even went on a counselling course at night school in order to understand how to support her.
How did they meet?
The pair met while Beverley was taking a break from her work as Corrie’s barmaid, instead working as a fitness instructor in Spain.
She had been set up on a blind date by one of her pupils, but had no intention of going as she “had decided all men are b*****ds by that point,” adding: “I just wasn’t interested in meeting someone.”
Instead, the pair met a few nights later when mutual friends invited them to dinner and they sat next to each other.
Beverley told the Mirror: “When I saw Jon with his shaved head and gold tooth I wasn’t impressed but within minutes we were chatting away. We went on to sit together at dinner and we got on like a house on fire.”
In 2010, Jon proposed while on the beach in Spain, Beverley recalls how she was wearing a baseball cap and no make up, unlike her character Liz MacDonald.
In October that year, the couple had a “Big White Wedding” with 22 bridesmaids, according to Callard.
“Our wedding day was amazing but it was also a whirlwind. It was a big white wedding, I had 22 bridesmaids,” she said.
In 2017, she first spoke about the possibility of renewing their vows. But, both were planning something more low key.
At the time, Callard told The Mirror:”We’d like it to be just us. We go on holiday soon and Jon suggested we renew our vows on the beach. I’m not sure, I might not have the right outfit!
“But whenever it is, I can’t wait. I’m so excited for our future together.”
However, the couple did not renew their vows until 2021 - all of the planning was documented on Beverley and Jordan: Destination Wedding.
How many times has Beverley Callard been married?
While Jon is Callard’s longest marriage, she has been married three times previously.
Aged 16, Callard married her first husband, Paul Atkinson in 1974. The marriage lasted three years and they share a daughter, Rebecca.
In 1980, Beverley gave love a second chance when she married her second husband, teacher David Sowden. However, the couple went their separate ways in 1988.
It is her third husband from whom Beverley takes her professional name, Callard.
She married Steve Callard in 1989 and during the time of their marriage she was cast in Coronation Street.
The pair remained together for 12 years, in which time they welcomed a son - Joshua.
In 2001, Callard was single again and had no plans to remarry until she was swept off her feet by McEwan.
She told Loose Women in 2017 that her current marriage makes her “the happiest I’ve ever been”.
