Yorkshire will be celebrating its annual ‘Yorkshire Day’ on Tuesday 1 Aug. It’s a day to celebrate Yorkshire and everything about the northern county. It was started by the Yorkshire Ridings Society in 1975, initially in Beverley, as "a protest movement against the local government reorganisation of 1974 and has now become a tradition for the Yorkshire folk.
There are many celebrities that hail from the Yorkshire area, with obvious choices being Spice Girl Mel B and Keith Lemon star Leigh Francis with their Leeds accents and Sean Beam with his Sheffield accent.

Actress Dame Judi Dench, famous for playing the role as ‘M’ in the Daniel Craig Bond films, was born in Heworth, York. She attended Mount School and her father was the GP for York Theatre Royal, and her mother was its wardrobe mistress.
Michael Palin, best known for his travel documentaries around the world and his role in the cult classic Monty Python film, the TV presenter was born in Ranmoor, Sheffield.
Diddly Squat Farm owner Jeremy Clarkson and former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson both come from Doncaster whilst ex-band member Zayn Malik was born down the road in Bradford.
