You may recognise them when they are sat behind ITV’s large desk offering huge heaps of money to competitors before promptly taking it away with their quick wit and knowledge, but what do the Chasers do when they are not answering quiz questions?

The likes of Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace have been a part of The Chase since 2009 with their various personas such as ‘The Beast’ and ‘The Dark Destroyer’, however the pair alongside the other ‘Chasers’ not only have day jobs to go back to but may appear on other TV shows.

The Chasers livelihoods have been hitting headlines in recent days after comedian turned quizzer Paul Sinha joined the line up for Loose Men, a special of Loose Women, for Mental Health Awareness Week.

‘The Sinnerman’ as he is known on his ITV game show made his debut appearance on the lunchtime panel show with Vernon Kay, Tommy Fury and Martin Kemp where he discussed how he is ‘fighting’ Parkinson’s Disease since his diagnosis in 2019.

Paul said: “In the years that I have ahead of me, I want to do my best to show that it doesn’t have to ruin your quality of life, and that you can fight against the stereotypes others have of you…I’m still fighting as hard as ever.”

Turning the focus to mental health, Paul added: “It’s important for everyone…to realise that however hard we try, we are not perfect, either physically or mentally. Traditionally, men have been discouraged to seek help, by believing that it’s a sign of weakness. But in all walks of life, a problem shared is a problem halved; or at the very least reduced. I hope that the message is getting through, but if it isn’t, I’d like to do my bit to help.”

In light of Paul sharing his story, PeopleWorld takes a look at where the other Chasers are now and what they have been up to:

Mark Labbett

The Chase’s ‘The Beast’ has been somewhat tamed in recent months as he hit headlines declaring he is ‘smitten’ with his new TV presenter girlfriend, Hayley Palmer.

Despite it being early days in their relationship and Hayley being 16 years Mark’s junior, sources say the romance is going well, especially as it comes three years after Mark’s divorce from former wife of seven years Katie, who he shares a son with.

Anne Hegerty

While Paul highlights men’s mental health and his fight with Parkinson’s Disease, Anne Hegerty changed public perception when she appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2018 and opened up about her Asperger's.

Since then, Anne has gone on to host her own quiz show called Britain’s Brightest Families where families compete against each other - very different to Bush Tucker Trials though.

Shaun Wallace

Shaun Wallace, one of The Chase’s original quiz professionals, is a qualified barrister and has worked as a Criminal Defence Attorney for over three decades including hearings at the Old Bailey.

Over the past week however, Shaun has signed up to go to New Zealand to host Believe It or Not’s New Zealand Pub Quiz Championships for a second time.

Jenny Ryan

Although Jenny Ryan is known as ‘The Vixen’ on The Chase, I think she should adopt the nickname ‘The Siren’ when trying to defeat contestants.

The reasoning behind this is because Jenny Ryan appeared on Celebrity X Factor in 2019 and sang for Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger, resulting in a third place finish.

Darragh Ennis

The Chase’s newest recruit was once a serious competitor on the show and was added to the ‘Chaser’s’ roster when fans created a ‘Justice for Darragh campaign’ when his teammates lost most of his winnings.

Since appearing as ‘The Menace’, Irish born Darragh has made a campaign of his own, for a new building at his old school in Rathcoole, Dublin as it has been needi of improvement for 20 years.
