Dick and Angel Strawbridge are the lovable couple best known for their TV series Escape to the Chateau. We have watched the couple on Channel Four for over nine series as they try to restore the Chateau to its full beauty with a few ups and downs along the way.

The couple bought the run-down building in 2015 for £280,000. The Château de la Motte-Husson is a 19th century building that boasts 12 acres of land, a moat, stables, an orangery and 45 rooms, nine of which are bedrooms and seven are bathrooms.

After all their hard restoration work over the past eight years the Chateau is reportedly worth around £2 million. A beautiful house that resembles a castle in the middle of France. It's the sort of thing most people dream about owning. So how exactly did the couple afford to buy it and do it up?

Before meeting wife Angel, Dick had a successful career in the army. He joined the Royal Corps of Signals after a year he was promoted to Lieutenant and then later Captain. This average salary for this role is anything from £28,000 - £40,000 a year. 

Dick featured in a few Channel four programmes as an engineering and environmental expert, before landing the Escape to the Chateau including: Scrapheap Challenge, It’s not easy being Green and Coast. 

Angel featured on BBC two series Dragons Den, pitching her ‘The Vintage Patisserie’ idea. The hospitality business caters for fairy-tale vintage weddings and unique celebrations. Entrepreneurs Deborah Meadon and Theo Paphitis invested £100,000 for 40 percent share of her company. Angel still runs the business today but moved it over from London to the Chateau in France.

Dick and Angel have been hosting elegant weddings and celebrations and according to The Sun you can get married at the Chateau from £19,000 to £38,000. With Angel’s hospitality experience and Dick being a Master Chef finalist you can be sure it will be a very memorable wedding day. 

The official is not known however according to Exact Net Worth the combined net worth is estimated around £2.5 million. 

The couple decided to stop filming after nine series to protect their children. Dick shares two young children with Angel and two from his previous marriage to Brigit Strawbridge.
